You Asked for It, You Got It - We're Going to Texas

Those of you who know me know I was a regular at the Antique Show in Round Top, Texas, for many years. So after hanging up my hat as a vendor, I thought what better fun than to take you all on a “VIP insider’s tour” to the antique show? This, my friends, is going to be AH-MAZING and another feast for your senses!

The bulk of our time and first 4 days will be spent painting and exploring Austin, but we’ll cap off the experience with a full day visiting and shopping at the Round Top Antique Show.

Accommodations

Note: We have opted to stay in North Austin due to the proximity to our painting location, and because of the influx of people arriving in downtown Austin for Formula 1.

Austin is home to hundreds of hotels varying in style, location and amenities. During previous retreats, many people enjoyed staying at either the same hotel or near each other. Knowing that, here are two hotels we recommend so we can hang out after a full day of painting.

  • The Archer Hotel at The Domain (most will stay here)
3121 Palm Way, Austin, TX 78758
    Phone: 512-836-5700

  • The Westin Austin at The Domain
11301 Domain Dr, Austin, TX 78758
    Phone: 512-832-4197

A Few Things to Note

1. October is the busiest time of year in Austin.

  • ACL (Austin City Limits) takes place the week before we arrive, and then Formula 1 begins on our last day so the city is bound to very busy.

  • Austin is spread out so if you want to rent a car, reserve it sooner than later. The hope is that we will carpool so not everyone needs a car.

  • You may want to look at flights early to get the best rates and arrival and departure times.

2. We will be painting at a place called Peached Social Club. The address is 6500 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX 78752

3. We will host an informal Happy Hour on Saturday, October 11. Be sure to plan your travel arrangements accordingly as art instruction begins at 10am on Monday, October 12.

4. Nothing is planned for Friday, October 17, other than going to the Round Top Antique Show. If that's not of interest, feel free to depart after Thursday's session.

5. If you do go the the Round Top show, be aware that shipping is easily available for anyone who wants to buy items.
