How To Go From Mockup To Canvas
How do you go from having an idea and inspiration for a painting to executing it on the canvas?
Well, I have developed my own simple quick solution that I’m going to share with you today.
I start by working small, combining colors and shapes on postcard-sized sheets of paper.
When I come up with a composition I like, I save it in a binder. And when I'm ready to start my next painting I often go through the binder for ideas.
When I find a sheet I want to use for getting started, I put it in a sheet protector, tape it next to my canvas and use it as a reference.
Watch the video to see why that clear sheet protector comes in so handy.
The mockups in the sheet protectors are just to get your painting started, but I have no doubt you’ll be flooded with ideas when you start this way.
And having an inspiration resource file or binder filled with ideas is a great way to jumpstart your painting practice.
