Painting Abstract Landscapes

How do you get inspired by an artist or a painting without copying their work?

In this video I will show you step-by-step how I create a collage from a painting -- actually two paintings -- by one of my favorite artists, Richard Diebenkorn.

I have spent hours upon hours studying his work -- from his early paintings and drawings through every stage he painted.

As artists, we all have our favorites who move us and inspire us. He is by far up there on the top of my list.

Not only are his later landscapes, for which he is most known for, beautiful in terms of their color combinations and mastery of technique, but so are his figures and his interiors.

In today’s video I show you my specific process of how I can be inspired by a specific work of his and translate it to creating my own version through collage.

Please leave a comment and let me know how you go about doing this for yourself.

If you have any questions I would love to hear them as I personally read and respond to all of them.

I hope you enjoy.
