Embrace the “F” Word in Your Painting

5/27/2019

Have you ever gotten stuck in a painting and felt like it was failing? And if happens enough times you may start to hesitate to start a new painting.

Believe me, I’ve been there. And it’s especially challenging when I’m working on a commission with a deadline.

So you’ve hit a wall and you want to retreat. But what if I told you that this is actually a very special moment in a good way? This is a moment of opportunity to find a way through that wall that can take you to unexpected places.  In other words, suppose that wall has a secret door! And once you’ve learned how to find and open the door you can begin to see the walls not as a cause for fear or anxiety but as an opportunity to do something different.

I’ve found three ways to open the door. They work for me and I believe they’ll work for you. In this week’s video, I explain the three ways to save a failing painting. This interactive art course allows you to watch me paint as I explain everything I am doing and the thinking behind it. Also included are interviews with gallery owners and artists, book reviews, resources to help get you started, and a private Facebook group where you can ask questions or post your artwork for critique.
