Have you ever wondered how colors get their names?
Can color likes and dislikes tell us something about our personalities?
What colors make you appear younger? Or thinner?
Do red cars really get more speeding tickets?
Are there specific colors that are recommended for particular health problems?
If these questions about color interest you, then you’ll want to meet the woman who has all…and I mean all… the answers to these.
She actually asked the questions and answered them in her book The Color Answer Book.
I came across this book at the Bainbridge Island museum in the gift shop.
As soon as I began reading it, I didn’t put it down till the end.
It’s so engaging and filled with all kinds of tidbits you never knew about color, whether it’s in a painting, in your home, in your wardrobe, and so much more.
It turns out that the woman who wrote this book lives on the island.
Her name is Leatrice Eiseman and she is the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
I had the good fortune to get her to agree to an interview in my studio and I asked her a million questions about color.
If you have any interest listening to her fascinating story and answer more questions than you could ever think to ask about color, then you’ll want to listen to my 20-minute conversation with her.

Is your favorite color orange, like mine?
Is your least favorite color purple…or yellow…or brown?
Well, you’ll have to read her book to find out!
