How to Change Your Mindset

10/05/2019

Do you want to learn how to paint, but you fear the results?

This fear is not uncommon among artists at any stage in the game.

Fear of failure and fear of success are equally weighted.

Regardless of where you are in your artistic journey – fear is a mental game that can stop the most creative person from moving forward.

You’re not alone. Everyone experiences fear, and everyone wants to overcome it.

Since fear is a result of the way you think, it is also a mindset.

Your mindset is the way you are predisposed to handle a situation.

While you may think that you’re stuck with a fearful mindset, but that simply isn’t true.

You Can Evict Fear.

Isn’t that good news?  You don’t have to be stuck in a rut with fear as your companion.

You can change your mindset and access your hidden potential.

There are many ways to change that voice in your head, so you can stop sabotaging yourself.

Since I know how powerful mindset is, I’ve invested many hours studying the concept.

And I want to share what I know with you.

Ways to Change Your Mindset.

Here’s a couple of tips you can use right away.

Give Yourself Permission. When you take the time to recognize in advance that you may be unsuccessful, you increase your odds of success.

Telling yourself it is okay to fail can remove fear and stop the feeling of overwhelm before it happens.

Try this: Think about the worst thing that could happen with the project you’ve set out to do. Realize that you’re not perfect, take action to work on your project, and seek to learn from whatever happens.  Giving yourself permission to learn from your failures automatically sets you up for success.

Break Your Goal Down Into Small Steps. Sometimes we get in our own way before we even start. A project may seem too big or overwhelming. Before you start working on the project, you can list out all the small tasks you need to accomplish to help you reach your goal.

By focusing on what you want to create and creating small action steps to focus on, you don’t have time to think about what you fear.

Try this: Write down your big project goal. Now break that goal down into bite-sized chunks. Set out to work through one step at a time. Before you know it, you’ll be on the other side of the project looking at what you’ve achieved.

These few tips for changing mindset provide examples for changing your mindset. There are many techniques you can do to propel yourself away from fear towards success.
